Pacific Northwest Fuel Mate™

What's New

Last updated: 2026-08-14

What's shipped, what's improved, and what we're exploring next — grounded in what's actually built, not a promise list. See Founding Boaters for the fuller picture and how to get involved.

New

Recently shipped and live today.

A fresh Pacific Northwest look

A new navy, ocean, and sand color palette designed to feel like the region this app is built for, plus a new Founding Boaters page and this What's New page.

Save a calculated trip straight to a Cruise

Run a trip through the Fuel Calculator and save it as a Cruise leg in one step — including starting a brand-new Cruise on the spot, without leaving the calculator.

Evidence photos on fuel price reports

When you report a fuel price, you can attach a photo. Approved reports carry a public "Community reported" badge wherever that price appears.

Password recovery

Forgot your password? You can now reset it yourself, backed by a more reliable sign-in and email-confirmation flow.

A welcome for new accounts

New accounts get a short welcome and a nudge to save their boat right away, so the calculator is ready to go from your very first visit.

Closing your account, if you ever want to

If you ever want to stop using Pacific Northwest Fuel Mate, reach out and we'll deactivate your account right away. After a 30-day window — in case you change your mind — your account and personal data are permanently deleted.

Better account tools for our support team

Behind the scenes, our team now has tools to look up accounts and boats and to clean up test or placeholder accounts, so the platform stays tidy as we grow.

Improved

Existing tools that got better.

Marina and destination picker on the calculator

Pick a From/To marina on the Fuel Calculator for a straight-line distance estimate, or type a custom location. It's still an estimate, not a navigable route.

Annual cruising summary

See total planned distance, cruising hours, and fuel spend for the year across every completed Cruise, with estimated and actual numbers kept honestly separate.

Cruise PDF export

Export any Cruise to a clean, printable PDF straight from your browser's print dialog.

Fuel price auto-fills from your history

The Trip Fuel Calculator's fuel price field now starts pre-filled with the average of your last 3 logged fuel purchases — still fully editable, just one less number to look up.

A pointer to real navigation software

Added a note in the Trip Fuel Calculator pointing you to dedicated marine navigation software, like Garmin Navionics, for actual route planning and charts — this calculator handles fuel math, not navigation.

Homepage and About page refresh

Reworked the homepage and About page to lead with cruise planning — what most boaters actually come here to do.

Full brand name on mobile

The header no longer cuts off the Pacific Northwest Fuel Mate name on phones.

Being Improved

Live today, and actively getting more complete.

Marina fuel price coverage

We're still verifying fuel availability and pricing at marinas across the region — most are not yet confirmed. Reporting what you see at the dock helps close the gap.

Boater Resources categories

Most Resources categories are still awaiting real recommendations — we're curating them deliberately instead of filling them with placeholder listings.

Exploring

Ideas we're considering — not scheduled, not a promise.

More marine-service categories

Marine mechanics, surveyors, electrical specialists, and more, as outlined on the Founding Boaters page. Not built, not scheduled.

Coverage beyond Puget Sound, the San Juans, and Hood Canal

A direction we're considering for future regional expansion — nothing scheduled yet.

Ways to support the project directly

We're thinking about options for boaters who want to support this project directly.
