Pacific Northwest Fuel Mate™

Founding Boaters

Pacific Northwest Fuel Mate is a public beta, and it's still early. Founding Boaters are the boaters using it now — while it's being built, not after — and helping decide what it becomes next.

Why We're Building This

Marina fuel prices and boating information are often difficult to locate, inconsistently published, subject to frequent change, and dependent on local knowledge — the kind of thing one boater picks up by word of mouth and another has no way to find. Pacific Northwest Fuel Mate exists to make that easier, as a community-oriented resource rather than a one-way information source.

Our Vision

Beyond fuel prices and trip planning, we'd like Pacific Northwest Fuel Mate to grow into a place boaters can find trusted marine professionals and services — potential areas include marine mechanics, diesel technicians, surveyors, electrical and electronics specialists, heating and air-conditioning technicians, plumbing and sanitation specialists, fiberglass and paint professionals, canvas and upholstery providers, detailing and maintenance services, boating education, and cruising resources. None of this exists yet — it's a direction we're considering, not a current feature.

Why Join

This app is being shaped by the people actually using it. As a Founding Boater, what you report, what you ask for, and what doesn't work for you has a direct line back to what gets built next — not a suggestion box that disappears into a backlog.

Who We're Looking For

Boaters cruising Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, and Hood Canal today — yacht club members, marina and fuel-dock staff who can help keep prices accurate, and anyone who plans trips, tracks fuel costs, or wants a better tool for either.

How to Participate

Roadmap

Available Now
  • Cruises & Fuel History — plan a cruise, save each leg, log fuel purchases, and view an Annual Summary or export a trip to PDF.
  • Trip Fuel Calculator, connected directly to your cruises, with saved boat profiles for signed-in boaters.
  • Marina Fuel Price Directory and an interactive Fuel Map.
  • Community Fuel Price Reporting, with optional photo evidence and public “Community reported” credit once approved.
  • Boater Resources, a curated (and still-growing) directory.
Being Improved
  • Fuel price coverage across more marinas — most marinas' fuel availability is still unverified today.
  • Boater Resources categories — most are still marked “Coming Soon” while we curate real recommendations.
Exploring
  • Additional marine-service categories in Boater Resources.
  • Coverage beyond Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, and Hood Canal.
  • Ways for boaters to support the project directly.

None of this is scheduled or committed — it's what we're thinking about, not a promise.

Meet the Founder

I've been boating since I was a kid on my dad's airboat and riverboats in Alaska, chasing salmon in the rivers and halibut in the inlet. Over the years I've owned 15+ boats — from ski boats and runabouts to weekenders, and now our 2000 Trojan by Carver 440 Express Cruiser.

I built PNW Fuel Mate because it's the resource I always wished existed. There are pockets of this information scattered around, but I'd never found one centralized, trustworthy place that pulled it all together. So this is my attempt at building it.

Thanks for your support, and here's to all of us Pacific Northwest boaters.
