Pacific Northwest Fuel Mate™

Privacy Policy

Last updated 2026-08-04. This is a draft policy describing this app's actual, current data practices — it has not yet been reviewed by an attorney.

What we collect

  • Account information. If you sign up, we store your email address and an encrypted password (via Supabase Auth) to let you sign in.
  • Boats, cruises, and fuel purchases. If you save a boat profile, plan a Cruise, or log a fuel purchase, we store what you enter so you can view and manage it later. Only you (and site admins, for support and moderation) can see this data.
  • Fuel price reports. If you submit a community fuel price report, we store the price, location, timestamp, and — if you attach one — a photo. Photos are stored privately and only accessible to you and reviewing admins, never displayed publicly.
  • Founding Boater / beta signup. If you submit the Founding Boater email form (no account required), we store your email, optional first name and boating region, and which version of this policy was in effect when you signed up.
  • Communication preferences. If you sign in, you can choose which categories of email you receive — every category is off until you turn it on. We keep a record of preference and unsubscribe changes so we can show you an accurate history and honor opt-outs reliably. We also record basic delivery status (sent, delivered, bounced, marked as spam) for emails we send, to keep our sending reputation healthy and stop sending to addresses that bounce or complain.

We do not currently collect payment information. This site does use Vercel Analytics for basic, aggregate usage tracking (e.g. which pages are visited); it is not used for advertising.

How we use it

To operate the calculator, cruise planning, and fuel price directory features you use directly, and to review and moderate submitted fuel price reports before they are published. We do not sell your data. If you've opted in, we may email you product updates, boat maintenance reminders, marina updates, regional boating news, or maintenance/service offers — the last of these may include affiliate or partner content, disclosed the same way as the affiliate links elsewhere on this site (see our disclosure). We never send marketing email to an address that hasn't opted in, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link that does not require signing in.

Who can see it

Your boat profiles, cruises, and fuel purchases are private to your account, backed by database-level access controls, not just app-level checks. Marina fuel prices you help verify become part of the public price directory once an admin approves them — the price and marina are public, your identity as the reporter is not shown publicly.

Your choices

You can delete your saved boats, cruises, and fuel purchases at any time from within the app. To request deletion of your account itself, contact the site operator. If you're signed in, manage which emails you receive from the Notifications link next to your email address in the header. You can also unsubscribe from all emails, with no account required, from the link in any email we send you.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
